Happy New Year!

Wow 2012 is here! I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas! We did! We had a much needed break from school, work, everything and went to Ohio to visit my Family! We had 10 wonderful days there, it did snow for a few minutes one day but otherwise the weather was beautiful! We got to spend time with family and even catch up with some friends! It was a great visit! When we got home the hubby and I moved our room from the basement to upstairs (and now I have lots of project ideas, and some purging to do!) (I have all year right!) KJ, the Hubby and I went out for a nice dinner then rented some movies from Redbox, and that is how we rang in the new year!(I know so very exciting!) MR C was with some friends! Today we had church and heard from some missionaries from Africa! (I will go there one day!) Rick and Anita Gutierrez are Doctors who help with the Aids epidemic in Africa, check them out here! After church we went out to lunch with some friends, and back home to watch more movies and get ready for this week! Of course I made some new years resolutions/goals for the year and over dinner we as a family talked about all that we resolved to do and or change this year! So what are mine you ask! OK I will share them!

That's what I want this year to be true to God, what He has called me to and what he is asking of me! I want to be obedient to God! I know when I am obedient God will bless it!

Cute Cheap Christmas Crafts!

I thought I'd post a few cute Christmas Gifts that I made this year for Christmas, These would be great for friends, neighbors, co-workers etc...

This first one I thought of early one morning taking MR C to school. It may not be original I've apparently have an addiction to Pintrest and so may have seen it somewhere on there. I took these with my phone so the picture quality isn't the best but you get the idea.

Ok So I was singing (very off key) and driving home to finish getting ready for work when I thought "MUFFIN" and Nothing sounded awfully similar! (I think I may have holiday ADD). Anyway this little gift Idea came to mind. Muffin mix with this note:

When Santa asked me what I wanted for Christmas this year

I replied, I wanted "MUFFIN" more than for my friends and family to be blessed!

And so the quick crafting began

I made a postcard sized label/card printed and mounted it on construction paper (cause that's what I had available) I bought some quick mix muffin mix blueberry (cause that's what our Walmart had!) then I bought a bunch of gift bags, (you could always use cute Christmas Lunch sacks or plain ones and decorate them!)

Viola! A Cute, Cheap, Christmas Craft/Gift to share!

This first one is the finished product all packaged up and ready to be delivered!

This is the card/label I added to the front of each gift bag!

This next one I know I saw somewhere else! (I however forgot to take pictures of my own so I swiped some from the internet!) Mine were just as cute!

For this you need a wisk, some baggies, or small cellophane bags, ribbon, and individually wrapped candy.

I added a little card/label that said:

We "WHISK" you a Merry Christmas!

First get a whisk (I bought mine at the Dollar General)

Fill the baggie.cellophane bag with candy. Used the snack size Hershey bars, Reeses Peanut Butter Cups, and York Pepermint Candy bars, as well as some of my favorite Peppermint Kisses

I added some curling Ribbon!

Viola!

Love it! I am working on some more for my families Gift Exchange when we go to Ohio!

Christmas Countdown 2011...

If you are my sister-in-law STOP reading this post! I repeat STOP! I don't want you to not be surprised with your Christmas Gift this Year!

For Christmas this year I wanted to do something fun and interactive for my brother and his family for Christmas, so I gathered tons of ideas off of Pintrest and put together my own version of a countdown to Christmas. I included everything they would need to accomplish the tasks. Below is what they had to do not in any particular order. In (parenthesis) is what I included to complete the task for that day. I forgot to take pictures of the bags and envelopes before I mailed them but they were the cute little Christmas lunch sacks from Wal-mart, I choose snowmen ones. I attached a white envelope with a day 1-25 on it to coordinate with the day between December 1st and the 25th. Feel free to copy this and use it all or what works for you!

Do Something nice for someone (make their bed, pick up after them, maketheir favorite food etc…)

It’s nice to receive mail especially at Christmas Write/Decorate aChristmas Postcards and mail them out!

(I included 12 pre-stamped postcards I purchased at the post office)

Today we remember what the celebration is all about I’ve included theM&M’s and a M&M Nativity Legend card do this together and share it witha friend!

Travel far away without ever having to leave home! Read these Christmas stories to go someplacefaraway!

(I included three Christmas Story Books)

Smore’s are a favorite treat of mine, all year long! So make sometonight by candle light or use the microwave!

(I included everything to make some smore's grahm crackers, hershey bars, and marshmallows)

Dinner tonight should be by candle light!

(I included two battery operated candles with extra batteries)

A little birdie told me something…. Don’t forget about your outsidefriends use this gift to give them a treat!

Your sweet feet and hands won’t always be this small, make a funChristmas tree to remember when you were small!

The tree is up and almost perfect, use today’s gift to add a littlesparkle!

(I included cute glittery ornaments with each of the family members first initial)

Over the river and through the woods to grandmothers we go, stay warmwith today’s gift!

(I included a fleece blanket and pocket hand warmers, I knew they would be traveling form TN to Ohio and the change in temperature can sometimes be drastic)

Pick a name off the Christmas tree and buy something special for someoneyou don’t know! Use this Wal-Mart gift Card to make someone’s Christmas alittle more special!

(I included a $20 gift card for Wal-mart)

Christmas Crafts are fun to do! Be creative and make something to sharewith another!

(I included some Christmas foam craft kits I found at the dollar store)

Most of the items were bought at either the dollar store or Wal-mart because that's what we have here in my town. I had so much fun putting this together. Most of these are things that my little family and I do together during the Christmas Season. And so we thought it would be fun to share with my brother and his family!

Happy Thanksgiving 2011

I have so many things to be thankful for this year, mostly my family! I am thankful for a husband that loves me, and supports me as I struggle to figure out how where I fit in this world. I have two amazing healthy children who actually (most of the time) like each other, and spend time together! I am beyond blessed! I miss spending the holidays with all of my family but when I can't be in Ohio with them I am glad to have the Hubby and kids who willingly go along with all my craziness! We had a fabulous dinner! Then played a game of monopoly! KJ dominated most of the game she got Boardwalk and Park Place eventually putting a hotel on each. MR C was out first then me. The Hubby held on the longest but in the end KJ beat us all!

This past month I have been saying what I was thankful for each day on facebook, and it's made my days a little brighter! It's so easy to get caught up in all the negativity of life, but when you are writing a thankful post each day it makes the days a little better, and it makes me really think about being thankful. So what are you thankful for?

Last Saturday MR C and KJ and I headed out to take some photos for Christmas cards/presents for the family, I told them early in the week not to plan anything for that afternoon so we could have some time to do this. It was cold, it was windy, we do live in Kansas so I am not sure why I am surprised by that. Anyway they did great! I on the other hand wasn't feel the best so after about an hour and a half we headed home! Here are a few of my favorites! Now all I have to do is decide which ones go in the Christmas cards!

We are so thankful that our kiddos have the opportunity to be a part of the music/drama department in our school!

After Saturday's show we hosted the cast party at our home! Such a great group of kids. It was to windy to have a fire outside so we roasted hot dogs and made smores inside using the fire place! I think the kids had a great time, however we could tell who were drama kids and who the crew kids were by where they sat in the room!

I am one blessed momma, both my kiddos can sing! This is a gift from God and was not passed down from either parent! This week we had the pleasure of attending KJ's Middle School Choir Concert and Michael's Show Choir Fundraiser (Fine Arts Night) I am still trying to figure out how to upload video's on here with out having to put them on Youtube first. Happy Halloween!

Every year our church hosts a Harvest Party the Wednesday prior to Halloween, we have carnival style games, pass out candy and get to dress up! It is so much fun! I love to see all of the creative costumes! Plus it's a great way to reach out and share some love with our town, in a non-threatening way. There is no charge and everyone is welcome! (See Christians can have fun! :)) I personally luv Halloween and dressing up! Who doesn't like to feel like a kid again sometimes! Anyway all of us got in the spirit! The Hubby reprieved his role as Spice T (you might remember that from VBS this summer) I came as Mary Poppins! MR C was a Jack in the Box (he made the costume entirely himself) and KJ was Perry Platypus. We all had a great time and even got a little candy afterwards! Here are a few of the pictures!

Today was a great day! First I was off and able to sleep in! Yeah! I spent the afternoon with my two favorite 4th grade twins M&M! Had a fun little photo shoot, made cookies, and watched Punky Brewster! Gotta love a day off in the middle of the week! <3

KJ my sweet baby girl is in her second year of Middle School (7th grade!) can't even believe it! She is such a beautiful girl inside and out! Makes a momma proud! She joined the cross country team and did fabulous! Her times improved each race and she even got a few medals! A minor injury kept her out of her last two races but she is healing up, and getting herself conditioned for track in the spring! She is doing amazingly well in all her classes all A's and one B. So Life has been crazy! I thought I would update on the kids individually. So MR C is in the midst of his Sophomore year in High School!

He is in debate and loving it! He has been to a few competitions and won a few rounds and lost a few as well. He truly enjoys the art of debate!

MR C was asked, is one of two student representatives on the Technology Team for our School district. He gets to or maybe has to attend the monthly meetings and gives his input about technology use/availability for students in our district.

Last week we attended the first Choir Jazz Band concert of the Year at the High School! MR C is in his first year of show choir and excelling! They had a couple choreographers come in a few weeks ago and help them with their competition song Born this Way Lady Gaga. Below are a few pictures from the practice and concert! (I will try to load the video)

Courageous The Movie

The Hubby and I had the amazing privileged of attending the advanced showing of the Movie Courageous tonight with two very dear friends of ours! I laughed, I cried, I was shocked, surprised, and my heart melted all within the 2hours of this movie! I will go see this again, and again! It is by far one of the best movies I have ever seen. I don't want to give away any of the movie because you truly need to go see it but I will tell you this bring tissues because you will cry or at least tear up within the first 5 minutes of the movie. It's inspiring and I am excited to see how families will change after seeing this. There is plenty of action to keep even the shortest of attention spans, and enough drama/heartfelt moments for us girls!

Here is a brief synopsis of the movie:

What we've been up to!

We survived a crazy busy summer and are currently getting used to the new routine of school, and work, and living life! August went by in a flash! We started school, and Celebrated completing our third year in Augusta! Yeah! MRC a Sophmore (already! gosh the time has flown by) has jumped in full force with being Student Council Vice President, in Debate, Show Choir, as well as his regular class load! This week he auditions for the High School Fall Musical (CHARLIE BROWN) KJ is a seventh grader, had a "BIG" birthday! She is officially a TEEN @ 13! We went out to celebrate with a few of her friends (I'll post some Photo's soon) Friday Night, had a family dinner with the Hubby's Dad who was in town visiting Saturday Night, and even lunch with some Awesome Friends Sunday! KJ has been getting in gear for Cross Country and has her first meet this week! (RUN, BABY RUN!)

We also had a wedding! MC C moved out, got married and started her second year of college!

We shared in the small private ceremony with MC C and her new hubby, wow that's a little weird to say! MC C asked me to take the pictures which I love to do! Her are just a few!

I love this time of year! As summer break comes to a close, and we prepare for school to start I feel like it't time for new beginnings. I have had a crazy busy summer, yet I have had some time to really seek out God's will for me and my life, as well as my role in my family, ministry, work, etc.. I have to come to a conclusion (with some gentle prodding, or hard shoves in some cases), that I need to begin with me.What I mean by this is I need to start taking care of me physically, emotionally, spiritually before I can be effective to anyone else. So if I it seems I have pulled back or I am not around much it's me not you! I promise. Some of the ways I am doing this is by getting healthy, diving into God's word everyday (making it a priority!), and getting rest! I am in the process of setting some smaller more attainable goals to work up to some bigger ones. One of those I am actually breaking now so I will end for now, but will update soon! What goal am I breaking? To get more rest! (I will not use or be on the computer after 9:30 p.m.)

Our God!

So I was cleaning out the storage closet earlier this week, when I came across a journal I kept just after my Car accident in 2005, and as I read through it, it reminded me that I am not alone in this world! My God is Bigger than anything the world can throw at me. And even though I can't see the bigger picture, God knows it and will see me through the struggles of life. This picture sorta make me think of that!

When looking through pictures from camp the last two weeks I found this picture and it really spoke to me! Maybe its because I have been battling with my thoughts lately or feel attacked emotionally, but it gives me hope! I know and believe that God is Bigger, Stronger, and more powerful than anything on this earth. And that God is with me lifting me up, giving me hope, encouragement, peace like only He can. A Chris Tomlin song plays in my head when I see this picture: Our God.

So I found a super cute craft even the craft challenged could do! Plus you get to use a hammer!

This was so easy and actually a pretty quick pendant to make! Here is what you will need!

Well I thought I'd share some of my experiences from our Mission Trip this year! Complete with some of my favorite pictures! This Picture is from Day 2 we stopped in Beuna Vista, CO to Whitewater Raft. I have never been before, but I can't wait to go again! It was fabulous! My Cheeks hurt from smiling/laughing so much! That Night we shared with FBC Delta, CO. We began sharing, and the power blew, but the kids kept on going! The tech guys get it restarted and it blows again! Satan was really fighting us sharing that night! Again our fabulous Tech Guys got it going again and our group shared Morphed! We stayed in host homes for the first time on the trip and I so enjoyed getting to know my host family! Roe was amazing and to hear her story was fantastic! Also she became a Grandma again while we were there! How exciting!

A few days later we have lunch at Mo's @ Tolovano Park, OR and had some time on the beach before lunch. Below are a few pictures from the beach that day! It was freezing!

The Hubby and I just enjoying some time together on the beach! It was so beautiful and powerful! God's amazing handiwork was showing through here! The ocean and the waves crashing on the shore was a beautiful sound. I only wish we had a little more time there to take in the view and sit and listen to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore! <3

My Birthday fell on the trip and we spent it in Whistler BC. (some of the 2010 Winter Olympics were held there) We rode a ski lift to the top of a mountain then took a gondola across to another mountain, and back then the ski lift back down the mountain! Talk about feeling small! Riding across the mountains we chose to ride in a gondola with a glass bottom so you could see below you! The view was breath taking and again we saw how majestic God is. There was snow (lots of snow) on the mountain, and I can honestly say I have never had snow on my birthday before until this year! <3 It was pretty fabulous way to spend my birthday, and I am not sure anything could top that!

This year for easter we had a fabulous service at the church and then choose to have a nice quiet dinner at home. The Hubby, MR C, KJ, and I had nice dinner, took some photos and enjoyed each others company for the afternoon. MR C & KJ took their new kites out and tested their superb flying ability, ate some dinner, ate some candy. Then we all headed to the church for our Mission Trip Practice. (I'll post more about this soon!) Below are some of the photo's from the day! (I didn't get any of the kite flying but I am sure with living in Kansas we will have plenty of opportunities to fly the kites and get pictures then!)

I am just like you, really I am I sometimes yell at my kids! (just ask them!) I say things I shouldn't. I forget birthdays and special things. I fail! I get excited at the little things in life. I don't always react the right way! But I have a God who loves me in spite of all this! A God who created me just the way I am. And I believe that when I fail or fall short God doesn't look at me like the people in this world do instead He looks at me and Say's "Good! Christina's one step closer to getting it!" I am Thankful for a God who knows me, and still Loves me! A God who's grace is enough!

Yummy Cake Truffles

Ok So Sunday Night I made these yummy cake Truffles found here, for work. Let's just say mine weren't as pretty as theirs, but they were yummy! Want the easy peasy recipe? Ok here goes!

Get a cake mix (plus ingredients need to make the cake), a can of frosting, chocolate/candy melts:

I picked Chocolate and Chocolate but any combo would work!

Follow the directions and bake a cake!

Let it cool for a bit and break it up! It's really unnatural to do this I know but trust me you can do it!

add 1/2 can of frosting mix together (I did mine while it was still a little warm)

Mix until it forms a dough like consistency

Scoop out small balls on a tray then refrigerate to set.

(I used a small scoop) Mine made about 6 dozen small balls.

Let them set for about an hour or overnight!

Melt your chocolate/candy melt. Then dip your ball in the chocolate or if you are like me and can never seem to get the dipping thing to work, drizzle the chocolate/candy melt on top! You could add sprinkles, nuts, mini chocolate chips on top if you like.

I made chocolate ones and Strawberry one's and they both were yummy! I think next time I may do lemon, or even a red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting.

The photo's don't really do these yummy sweet treats justice. They are the perfect size if you just need a little sweet treat! Hope you enjoy!

New Year!

This is my prayer for this year: I pray that I will let go of my past and starting today, live my life to leave a legacy for all my loved ones to follow. May my decision to live for Christ alone be the one decision that breaks any and all generational curses and sarts generational blessings.
I pray that I find great joy knowing that I , with my love for others and my life lived for the Lord, will be one who is remembered forever. May I find renewed passion and love for my Heavenly Father.

Psalm 112: 1-3 Happy are those who delight in doing what He (God) commands.....

I always make New Years Resolutions only to break them and feel guilty about not completing them. This year I am not making huge resolutions instead I am vowing to make some much needed heart changes! I am going to make people (starting with my family) a priority and not things! I am going to love God, and love people! I am going to treasure those I am lucky enough to have in my life! I'll Keep you posted!

Tablescapes Luncheon

Today was the Tablescapes Luncheon at Church, my friend Amy and I hosted a table together.

I have a Funny story as to how we got the tableware for this luncheon. I am a HUGE Goodwill Shopper! Infact I love, Love , LOVE, to go there and look around to see what I can find! A few weeks ago I went looking for tableware for this Luncheon. I found 8 Dinner Plates, and Dessert plates that matched, and were kinda cute. (and cheap to!) So I picked them up. The next day I happened to be driving by the Goodwill again and thought I might as well stop, to see if I could find some solid color mugs to match the pates. When to my amazement I found the matching mugs! (Yeah! ) so I scored a full 8 piece set of dinner plates, dessert plates and mugs for less than $10! Awesome!

This is me with my momma, and my youngest KJ.

My mom and dad came to visit this past weekend and even though the time was short, I loved getting to see my parents and so did the kiddos. We packed a lot into a short weekend visit, a baby shower, MR C's Musical, dinner out and even some shopping! But best of all we got to spend time together! I don't tell my mom often enough how much she means to me, and how much I value not only her being my mom, but my friend as well! She is probably my biggest fan, and believes in me when I don't believe in myself! I only hope that when we get through the teen years KJ will feel the same about me! (I know she won't always like me through the teen years! :)) So MOM this one's for you!

I have found a new Heroine, Katniss Everdean! These books have consumed every spare moment I have had this week, and even some I didn't have! :) I am not usually one to like science-fiction type books, but Suzanne Collins pulled me in with her gripping story of Katniss Everdeen, a young girl forced to sacrafice for her family. I won't give away the story but I promise if you love a good story you will love these books! You won't be able to put them down!

Our Sweet Baby Girl turned 12 Saturday! To Celebrate she and three friends got all dolled up in "party" dresses went out for a fun Photo Shoot, Dinner, and Home for a movie and some yummy snacks. Here are some pictures of the fun night!

We had sooo much Fun preparing for this party to Celebrate KJ's 12th Birthday, first KJ and I headed to Goodwill and found party dresses for each of the girls. Then KJ and I painted fun little boxes and added some jewles, candy, a crown and the invitation (sorry I didn't think about photgraphing these till they were already delivered) Then we went to each girls house delivered the invitations, along with thier dress for the night out. Again didn't remember the camera till it was over. Friday night KJ and I went and picked up each of the girls escoted them to the Mini-van (aka Limo incognito) and went to the lake and park for a photo shoot! I am sure they would have loved to have more pictures taken, but dinner was calling! So we headed to Playa for some yummy chips & salsa. Our night on the town wouldn't be complete with out a trip to Wal-mart so we headed there to get snacks for the movie we had waiting for us at home! At home they watched The Last Song..... Ate the snacks!..... talked way to loud!.....stayed up way to late!

I'm a working Girl!

Ok so with the summers schedule and me now working full time I have sorta let the Blog go! Sorry! (I hope you can forgive me!) I will try to post a little more, once I get used to this new schedule! So far I love Love LOVE my new JOB! Seriously, I am not sure I have ever felt this way about a job before! What am I doing you ask! Well I am a para educator or better known as a teachers assistant. I get to work with the third fourth and fifth grade classes! YEAH!! I have enjoyed everyday! and I can't wait to go back on Monday!

SO this week has been big for our family! KJ started middle school! I am not liking this one bit! (ok, ok I know she has to grow up but does it have to be soo fast?) Anyway! Monday night we had orientation! Where we go to tht school check out the building, meet the teachers, and try to open the dreaded locker! It went fabulous! I even got a few pictures!

All in all this has been a pretty good week! KJ likes middle school and her teachers! (YEAH!) and MR C loves High School and his teachers! (YEAH!)

Big Daddy (Hee Hee that's what I am gonna call the hubby from now on) is preparing for his fall schedule! Promotion Sunday is this week, then in a few weeks Kids Club (soon to be called Disciple Land) will begin!

MC C is busy preparing for some big changes and also starts her on line classes next week. (YEAH!)

I surrvived the crazy summer and contrary to popular belief lived to tell about it! I know I have been neglecting my blogging but hey there are only so many hours in a day! So since the last time I posted I have spent two weeks at camp and started working full time! (as if I wasn't busy enough right!:)) KJ and I went to middle school camp and I loved being her counselor! We had sooo much fun! Here are a few pictures to show ya!

I came home for almost two whole days only to go back to be the Craftlady at Elementary Camp:

As you can see in the above photo I even crafted while we waited for the kids to arrive! Both weeks were amazing! Very Different but to see God at work in the lives of the middle schoolers and elementary kids as well as all the counselors was such a blessing!

After coming home from camp I had a little time to rest before starting a new job today! I will be working in the schools here as a para educator (teachers aide). Oh I did get to have a girls getaway last weekend check out part of our adventure on my friend Marcie's Blog. So much fun I will have to blog about that later! For now I am hoping the Nyquill will start working and I will be well rested for my next day of work monday!

What's Been Up here Lately?

Well it's been a while since I've blogged! It feels like a lifetime ago! So much has happened. Let's see where to begin: I had a Birthday! My AMAZING sweet Hubby bought/made me not one but two cakes one BIG one to share with a hundred or so family (ok so they are our church family) at the commissioning meal and another one just for us at home! I wanted a Tropical Vacation for my Birthday and since that really isn't in the budget my sweet family did the next best thing the made me a birthday in a box! I got like 10 pair of fun colored flip flops, a new beach towel, bath soak, my favorite perfume and enough chocolate to last several months! (Even for a chocoholic) I feel so special! Then a few friends took me out to celebrate the night before I left for the musical mission trip! We had ice cream and went on a Photo Scavenger hunt! I haven't laughed so hard in a very long timetion! (Thanks Girls!)

I spent two weeks on a bus with 56 or so other people and had a fabulous time! I have been on many youth trips but no other one could compare to this trip. The Students did an Incredible job! We shared the muscial: For Such a Time (based on Esther 4:14) worked in a food bank, served hotel workers in Myrtle Beach, and worked with a Boy's & Girl's Club in Orlando.

I got to see one of my bestest friends Rebekah in Augusta, GA (Her family just moved there a week or so before we traveled through)

So many amazing things happened and I hope to share here soon about all of them! The biggest thing I learned was that I am not in control! You'd think I already know this but nope! I struggle with control! God is really helping me with that right now! it's not fun! But if you never struggle you'll never grow!

It was pretty neat to see the students grow and change and deepen their relationship with God.

I have been home about two weeks, and haven't had any time to rest! We have VBS this week coming up and MR C and MC C head off to High School Camp MR C for his first time and MC C for her last. Then the week after VBS/High School Camp KJ and I head to Middle School Camp! Then we come home for two days then head back as a family to Elementary Camp. I will post pictures when we get back!

We have had some other more personal things going on and I can't and won't share on here right now! But I will say that God is Faithful and He has and I know and Believe He will continue to provide for all out needs! And God can bring good from all situations!

Redefining Beautiful! ~Book Review~

Several months ago I recieved the Book Redefining Beautiful by Jenna Lucado and I love it! I have heard Jenna speak at Revolve Tour 2 times now and I love the message she has for girls! In her book she pairs up with her dad Max and speaks to teen girls about what Beautiful really is! Each chapter is easy to read and has a Beauty Tip, and questions to get you thinking and journaling! This would make a great teen girls bible study, small group book or even for girls (of all ages) to read on their own. I love that Jenna writes as if she is speaking directly to you. The chapters are short but filled with great information, scripture, personal stories and most chapters have a note from Max. She writes about how important fathers are in the lives of thier daughters, but stresses that no matter how good or bad your earthly father is, your heavenly father is there and loves you and sees the value in you. One of the biggest things I got out of this book was learning to see yourself the way God sees you. If we could see ourselves and others they way God does we could get rid of the "mean girl" syndrom and begin to see the value in ourselves and in one another. This book says all the things I want my daughters to know and believe about themselves! I am excited to be using this book this fall for the Middle School Girls Study!

I love the letter Max wrote to Jenna and her sisters and plan to some how make this apart of our study/time together! I think this would be great framed, handwritten and given to any girl/woman as a sweet reminder, they are loved!

Well Bloggers it been one of those weeks! I am not even going to go into it all here, but needless to say I wish I could hop on a jet plane and go somewhere peaceful!

Since that can't happen I have to say that I am not sure what I would do if I didn't have my Faith in God. No matter what life throws at me I know I am not alone! I have a God that is bigger, than any problem I could face! I feel safe. I know I have posted this song before but I really think it speaks to what I am feeling. I may be struggling with understanding why but I believe and know that God will get me through this time, and He will be glorified! So if your struggling with something know you are not alone! God's Words tells us in Romans 8:26-28 (The Message)

26-28Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God's Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don't know how or what to pray, it doesn't matter. He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That's why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good.
I love this scripture because even when I don't know what to pray, God's Spirit interceeds for me and knows what I need!

My prayer for you is that you will feel safe in His Arms!

Storms of Life

We rejoice in our suffering, knowing that suffering produces endurance, endurance produces character, and character produces hope. Romans 5: 3-4

Did you know that an eagle knows when a storm is approaching long before it breaks? The eagle will fly to some high spot and wait for the winds to come. When the storm hits, it sets its wings so that the wind will pick it up and lift it above the storm. While the storm rages below, the eagle is soaring above it. The eagle does not escape the storm. It simply uses the storm to lift it higher. It rises on the winds that bring the storm.

When the storms of life come upon us - and all of us will experience them - we can rise above them by setting our minds on God. The storms do not have to overcome us, and swallow us up. We can allow God's power to lift us above them. God enables us to ride the winds of the storms in our lives, like the Eagle. No matter what the storms bring wether it be sickness, tragedy, failure or disappointment in our lives. We can soar above the storm. But we have to choose to do this! We have to put our hope in the Lord!

Isaiah 40:31 But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Nope but I wold love one for say my birthday coming up! (*hint hint*) (that's for the Hubby who sometimes read's my blog!)

2. What is your fondest memory of K-3rd grade?
HMMMM! I don't remember much except playing outside all day long during the summer, we'd play in the wooded area behind where we lived and had ADVENTURE's! We would catch horny toads, and keep them in a box for a few days then let them go! We would pack our lunches so we didn't have to stop playing to go home and eat! All the neighbor hood kids would play together and have soo much fun!

3. What makes you cringe at the thought of touching?

Anything slimey! Jello, eggs etc.. I dislike it A LOT Slimey stuff yucky!

4. If you could have any celebrity show up on your doorstep who would it be and why?

Jillian or Bob from Biggest Loser! Wait send Bob! I really need some motivation to get back to the gym! Plus He is a cutie, and I am not sure I could handle Jillian yelling at me!

5. What would you say is your best physical feature?

My Smile! I used to not like it because it's soooo big but I have learned to embarce who God has made me! Big mouth and all!

It's hard to believe that this sweet little girl is all grown up and ready to go to College! Then Church, then to Lunch @ my favorite little mexican place in our town... PLAYA AZUL! What I've been up to lately....

Sooo I have been busy, I feel like I say that a lot! HHHHMMMMM! I have been feeling cluttered! Inside and out! So I am making some changes here. Last week I cleaned out and reorganized the storage area in our basement sorry no pictures I really wish I had done a before and after! This weekend I did a little transformation of our dining room. it went from this:

The only thing left to do is paint... thinking I'd like a sage green in here!
As for the internal clutter well that's a change that will take a little longer... but it's a work in progress!

New Friend Friday: Most Embarrassing Moment!

It's hard to pick only one most embarrassing moment! I could tell you about the time I asked my neighbor about her pregnancy only she wasn't pregnant! or As a youth worker trying to show some middle school girls the proper way to do a roundoff, only to fall on my bottom and fracture my heel!
Nope I got it I'll share how a few short years ago, we took several van's full of Middle School and High School students on a video scavenger hunt! As a driver I didn't have to participate but we were having so much fun and I luv being a part of the youth games so I thought why not! The task was to hang upside down, sing the national anthem to the tune of Giligan's Island. No problem right! Well lets just say, I should have listend when R said.... I don't think this is a good idea... you don't have to do this... and it's all caught on tape! (Her warning too!) Needless to say I didn't listen, I went to the three tired bar thingy, chose the lowest one (thinking I would be safe, HA!) and proceeded to gently lower myself backwords to hang upside down.... only my hands skipped and I fell! I fell Hard hitting my head on the ground trying not to cry, cause it hurt. The kids all got quite, I know they wanted to laugh it was funny! Painful but Funny! So I laughed so they knew they could! Since this was all caught on video a few weeks later it was nicely (NOT!) edited to look as though I repeatedly fell, hitting my head. I did get a hard hat out of it! :) Wonder where that video is? HMMMMMMMMMM!

Kristen over at We are That Family... has really inspired me to not just read about it but to actually do something about all the children who need more! So Today after searching the Compassion Site: Here I knew that with out a doubt I had to pick a child to help, to sponosr. Looking at their faces, and in their eyes, and my heart aches for them. I wish I could bring them all home and love them. So after picking a country, I chose Ethiopia, I found Tsion:

What I've been up to lately!

Hello Blog world! So I have had a few busy weeks, with the Women's Retreat, and MR C and KJ in the Community Theater production of Alice in Wonder Land Jr. but with all that I've still been able to craft a little! :) I like crafts! But I really love Quick Crafts! I have found a few that I liked on some other Blogs the first resulted in only one injury, and I did not get any blood on it I promise! It did hurt! I am not sure the picture really shows how cute this necklace and bracelet are! I had so much fun I am thinking of making my mom one for mothers day (shhhh!), and maybe another to give away at the next Women's Ministry Dinner & a Movie (June 4th)

Then I found this really cute http://brownpaper--packages.blogspot.com/2009/12/purse-sized-photo-brag-book.html this is a gift for my mom for mothers day, and we made them last night in Girls Group. I gotta tell you the middle school girls loved them! And they were so easy to make you just need a few basic supplies, all things you can get at Wal-Mart (See the pictures below)

First go to Wal-Mart and get some Badge/Id holders ($1.88 for a package of 12), then gather your other supplies like ribbon, scissors, scrapbook paper, pictures... I used a business card as a template to cut my scrapbook paper. Decorate to your liking. After you've made as many cards and placed them in the Badge/Id holders stack them together and use ribbon to keep them connected. Like this:

I can't show you the inside, my mom might be reading the blog and I don't want to ruin the surprise!

Safe: Phil Wickham

I have a new favorite Christian Artist: PHIL WICKHAM! I am totally loving his songs, I am not sure how I haven't heard of him before! I was listening to K-Love a few weeks ago, and I heard this song SAFE, and it really spoke to me. As I listened to the words of the song, I felt as if it was written just for me! I felt Safe and free from those burdens I was holding on to, and when I truly listen and meditate on these words I weep. To know that I am safe in His (GOD's) arms brings a peace that can not be explained. So Friday night I was online looking up Phil Wickham and watching some of his songs on youtube, and the more I heard the more I wanted to have his album. So at 11 pm Friday night MR C and I drove into town to our local Wal-mart with the hopes that they would have his CD, they didn't and since it was so late I wasn't feeling comfortable enough to into Wichita, I bought an I-tunes card and downloaded his most recent CD and a few other songs from other CD's he has out. I have't heard one song of his that I didn't ~~like.~~ LOVE! So Enjoy this Song!

What been Going on Lately?

Ok so I haven't been blogging to much lately but we have been busy. So what have I been up to lately? We had our final gathering with the Pure in Heart Study (a mother/daughter bible study on purity) Here are some of the girls at our ending ceremony: This is me and KJ as I am presenting her with her new True Love Waits Ring:

For Spring Break we took a road trip to Ohio and New York and then back home. While in Ohio we celebrated my Grandma's 68th Birthday:

The Hubby with Baby M (Can you see how excited he is to be a Grandpa) Baby M, Me with Baby M! He was so sweet and such a Beautiful baby. The new momma is doing well and has really taken to motherhood, we are so proud. After pulling sweet baby M from my arms we headed back to Ohio and stopped at Niagara Falls, NY MR C and I have been there before actually just before we moved to Kansas with our Youth Group back in Ohio. Anyway it is still Beautiful no matter what the season. My only disapointment was that we weren't able to get up real close to the falls like we were when we went in the Summer. Here are some pictures of our time there!

Weathering the Storms of life

“The life of a Christian is this: we are either entering into a storm, going through a storm, or coming out of one. Our lives consist of one storm after another. Life is an extended storm interrupted by brief episodes of peace.”

If we look at our lives, if we are truthful, we will most likely agree with that statement.

Why do we experience storms in our life? Satan wants to attack us, bring us down, and deceive us. And boy has he been doing that to me this week! But we have a choice of how we will weather these storms we face in our life. Will we be overtaken and defeated? or will we turn to God and allow Him to bring us peace in the storm?

Sunday was a bad day for me! Really bad! You know one of those days that you think, nothing else can go wrong or be dumped on ya then it does. And all you want to do is run and hide! Yep that was my day. But God was and still is so faithful. Someone said something to me that really hurt my feelings and boy was satan quick to continue to throw that in my face. But God, showed me through his word that he heard my cries, and gave me truths to block out those lies. (I'll share it in a bit)

You see I was hearing all day that I wasn't to do the Lesson for Middle School Girls Group that I had planned. I was instead to talk to them about the woman at the well in the book of John chapter 4 I kept saying no God please don't, I have this other lesson ready I am not prepared! :) Funny how we I so easily forget that God dosen't always call the prepared instead he prepares the called.
So reluctently I obeyed. I only had about an hour to read through the story in John 4 and decide what to teach on. I read it in the NIV and it was good but nothing was really standing out to me, so I decided to read the Message version and that's when I heard God speaking to me through his word. I have read this story in the bible many times and loved it! I feel like I can relate the the Samaritan Woman in many aspects in life (now I haven't had 5 husbands or anything) but I have felt that despair that I was alone in life that she must have felt. But When she meets Jesus at the well and he speakes to her inspite of what was socially acceptable. You see God dosen't expect us to be perfect. Because He knows our true hearts.
It's who you are and the way you live that count before God. Your worship must engage your spirit in the pursuit of truth. That's the kind of people the Father is out looking for: those who are simply and honestly themselves before him in their worship. God is sheer being itself—Spirit. Those who worship him must do it out of their very being, their spirits, their true selves, in adoration. John 4:23-24 It's not about who or what others think of us it's about who we are when we are before God. When I read this I felt like God had written it just for me just for this day specifically. And I cried, because I knew He (God) had heard my cries, and I felt like He said to me I know your heart! WOW!

I went to Girls Group and shared this lesson with them, and I believe that it wasn't only for me that day. I shared with the girls and we had an amzing prayer time.(I believe God is really working in thier lives as well) I am excited to see how God will continue to use me and hopefully next time I will be a little more prepared for the storm.

KJ Particiapted in and Won the Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Race at School this week! We are so Proud! So what exactly is Shrove Tuesday, and Why a Pancake Race? (Don't worry I had to look it up.) Here is what I found outShrove Tuesday: The Pancake Fest

Shrove Tuesday gets its name from the ritual of shriving, when the faithful confessed their sins to the local priest and recieved forgiveness before the Lenten season began.

As far back as 1000 AD, "to shrive" meant to hear confessions.

Historically, Shrove Tuesday also marked the beginning of the 40-day Lenten fasting period when the faithful were forbidden by the church to consume meat, butter, eggs or milk. However, if a family had a store of these foods they all would go bad by the time the fast ended on Easter Sunday. What to do?

Solution: use up the milk, butter and eggs no later than Shrove Tuesday. And so, with the addition of a little flour, the solution quickly presented itself in... pancakes. And lots of 'em.

Today, the Shrove Tuesday pancake tradition lives on throughout Western Europe, the United States, Canada and Australia, but is most associated with the UK where it is simply known as Pancake Day with a traditional recipe, although these can be as varied in the UK as there are British households.

In France, (as well as here in the US - or more famously - in New Orleans) it's known as Fat Tuesday which kicks off the Mardi Gras festival with wild celebrations just before the austere Lenten season.

So How does one participate in and win a Pancake race? They are armed with a frying pan and a pancake, wearing an apron and a bandana. They run about 1/4 mile with the frying pan and pancake as fast as they can. KJ not only ran and won out of all the girls but her time even beat the boys! WOO HOOO! I only hope she continues to run from the boys!

Look what I can Do....

Hey there blog world! So I have been sick and it's not getting any better (YUCK) oh and I was late to the appointment so the Doctor wouldn't see me. UGHHHH!!! In an effort to not sit here and sulk and since I am at home feeling yucky, and trying to rest. I thought I'd try being a little crafty (to try and brighten my day).

KJ had no school last thursday and since I was just getting sick we stayed home, and watched an episode of Martha Stewart. It was the Wedding show! Now since I never had a wedding (we went to the courthouse to get married). I love to watch wedding shows, and dream of someday having a big wedding, with the dress and all the extra's. (A Girl can dream right!) Anyway the whole reason for this post was to show you the cutest, quickest craft, I saw on her show. KJ and I thought these would be cute to make for her friends, or at a birthday party and since her birthday isn't until August. Here are some pictures:
