Unexpected Treasure!

Today we had no school! (Yeah!)  Which means no work for me, and the Hubby is usually off on Fridays so we decided to make a day of it and explore some of this great state we are in.  Hubby and I early in the week both began looking for ideas and without the other knowing had looked into going to Hutchinson, Kansas (just an hour and a half away) to visit the Salt Mine Check out their website here____!  We spent two fun hours exploring and learning all about the underground salt mine!  It was great!  We went with the package that included a train ride and the dark ride as well as admission to the mine/museum.  So worth the cost!  I took way more photos that what you see here but I was afraid the page would take to long to load if I added more!  Who knew we had such a great treasure so close to home! We  enjoyed a nice big breakfast at home, (after sleeping in of course) and then headed to Hutchinson.

MR C & KJ Ready for the ride down!

The Hubby & I ready to take the trip 650 ft down!

This mine we toured was hasn't been active since the early 50's.  The miners left some things behind, Campbells soup can, Hersheys Wrapper, a calender, tons of cups, papers and misc.. trash! They even left an empty trash can!

They store movie reels, scripts, and even some props from Hollywood movies!

This mine car (see the above two photo's) was made in Findlay, Ohio (My hometown) and shipped to the mine taken apart and then put back together in the mine.  It was used to transport miners to different areas of the mine!
The car used to transport the crew and host when they were in the mine film an episode of Dirty Jobs.

KJ & MR C posing with a big block of salt!

We learned so much while we were there!  It was actually pretty interesting!  These signs with Salt Secrets were posted in several areas to tell you what you were looking at!

The above picture may look like a bad picture but all the dots you see are salt dust falling!  I kept tasting salt (every time I breathed in) and this is why!

After our tour and exploring we were hungry so we headed to a local favorite Bogey's for a late lunch.  They have more than 100 flavor combinations for milkshakes (i couldn't decide so I got a cone instead) as well as burgers, fries and more!

I Love my Family!

Vance Trip

Hubby and I celebrated 16 years of marriage this year! (Can you Believe it!) We decided to celebrate with a trip to Oklahoma where we met and were married!  The Kiddo's came along with us as we visited our old stomping grounds!  (Things sure have changed!)  We stayed in billeting on base, went bowling, and took in some sights in Enid.  We then went back to the courthouse where we were married and snapped a few photo's.  Hope you enjoy them!

The Family!

These two kiddos are such dorks but I sure do love them!

This is what happens when you wait for more than an hour to get your food at I-Hop in Enid! (we left and went to Mc Donalds!

Would you like a Blizzard with that?

MR C is growing up so fast, He got his first job.  He is working at our local Dairy Queen! This is one of his first few days at work!  He really likes his job!

If you go into our local DQ you will see him at the register or making your favorite ice cream treat!
(This could be soo bad for my waist line!)
We have been in a few times to see him in action!  So very proud of the Amazing young man he is!

Sweet 16!

WOW!  This new Year is Flying by!  So I thought I'd try to catch you all up with what's been going on in our life over the next few posts!  Let's see I am obviously not sticking to my resolution regarding blogging especially on here but I have been posting almost weekly on the WM Blog and the  Girls Blog so I haven't totally blown it.  :)  (Plus the year is not over yet so I still have time! :))
This sweet baby boy is now 16!  Where has the time gone?  He has his license and drives!

All MR C wanted for his birthday was:
Get His License
Drive somewhere ALONE
Get Mc Donald's
Have a Harry Potter Cake

I can say that he got everything on his list.
On his birthday day Hubby took him out of school a little early so they could go get his official license's, and they stopped and got some Mc Donald's (ours is closed for remodeling right now).  You can see above that he got his Harry Potter cake and it was good! MR C even got to drive by himself! (and he is doing it more and more!)

Happy Birthday to my First Born! I Love you!

Happy New Year!

Wow 2012 is here! I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas!  We did! We had a much needed break from school, work, everything and went to Ohio to visit my Family!    We had 10 wonderful days there, it did snow for a few minutes one day but otherwise the weather was beautiful! We got  to spend time with family and even catch up with some friends!  It was a great visit! When we got home the hubby and I moved our room from the basement to upstairs (and now I have lots of project ideas, and some purging to do!) (I have all year right!)  KJ, the Hubby and I went out for a nice dinner then rented some movies from Redbox, and that is how we rang in the new year!(I know so very exciting!)   MR C was with some friends!  Today we had church and heard from some missionaries from Africa! (I will go there one day!) Rick and Anita Gutierrez are Doctors who help with the Aids epidemic in Africa, check them out here!  After church we went out to lunch with some friends, and back home to watch more movies and get ready for this week!  Of course I made some new years resolutions/goals for the year and over dinner we as a family talked about all that we resolved to do and or change this year! So what are mine you ask! OK I will share them!

In Today's Bible reading this verse stood out:

Luke 6:26

The Message (MSG)
26"There's trouble ahead when you live only for the approval of others, saying what flatters them, doing what indulges them. Popularity contests are not truth contests—look how many scoundrel preachers were approved by your ancestors! Your task is to be true, not popular.

That's what I want this year to be true to God, what He has called me to and what he is asking of me!  I want to be obedient to God! I know when I am obedient God will bless it!

Tonight's sunset was a great reminder to me!  This picture below is what I saw out my window tonight!

Have a Beautiful Day!  (and a Happy New Year!)
