Middle Schoolers Are AWESOME!

A group of 24 middle school students and 11 adults headed to Tuksa, OK for the Believe Tour.  We arrive at our hotel first and unload our bags and walk across to the Tulsa Conference Center.  Worship was lead by Hettie Marie and Foundation Red Band.

Eric Samuel Timm an amazing Artist, painted these Awesome Pictures throughout our time there.

And 321 Comedy Improv made us laugh until we almost peed our pants.  From them we learned that Babies come from Walmart, and that you can be a bull fighter in a chicken suit! Ahhh good times! They deffinetly kept the laughs a coming!

Untitled Skate Boarders were pretty cool, I didn't get many pictures of them, for one the students were always up close to the stage, plus they moved so fast! :)

Finally the reason I really wanted to go was for Heather Flies!  She is this AWESOME middle school pastor from Minnesota.  She just has a way about her that makes you feel better!  I hope to blog here sometime about what the students learned this weekend, but for now I will just share the other stuff, and lots of pictures! One thing I will share here about what she talked about was that the Messiah See's more... In Psalm 139:13-16 13 For you created my inmost being;
you knit me together in my mother's womb. 14 I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. 15 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, 16 your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be.
Since God created us, who are we to complain about who we are.  Can you name three things you LOVE about yourself? (only one can be a physical feature)  I can!  Before I share them I have to say that just a few years ago I wouldn't have been able to do this very easily.  But, God is soo good He has helped me to see my value in HIm.  So here are my three:  My Smile!  (I really like it and I have a lot to smile about, I serve an AWESOME GOD!)  My Joy inspite of my circumstances, or my past. My Quirkyness (I am different and Ok with that!)  I could probably name a few more just ask! So what are yours?  Share, I'd love to hear form you! Ok so here are some more pictures, Hope you enjoy them!

Desperate for Him!

I am currently involved in a Women's Bible Study One in a Million by Priscilla Shirer and this weeks study was AMAZING! So much stood out to me that it would take forever to share it all here so I will share one thing that really touched my heart.  However if you want to see a review of each week check out FBC Women's Ministry Blog

*Sometimes God allows hardship to graciously show us we desperately need Him. Often when we are at our lowest place physically, financially, relationally, or in another crucial area of our lives, God ignites our hearts for him in a brand new way. *

I want to share with you one of these such times, that God allowed a hardship that brought me personally to my lowest relationally, and even made me desperately seek Him out!  As I write this know that I believe that God works somethings in our lives for reasons we may never understand but sometimes, we get a glimpse of God's Power, His reasoning. (or for me it's the pretty side of the tapestry, you know the  glimpse of the "BIG" picture)   I have to give a little background first, I will try to be as concise as I can without leaving out the important (in my eyes) details.  Here goes:  In January 2008, I went up to Mars Hill Church (Rob Bell) and spent the weekend In GrandRapids, Michigan for a Youth Leaders retreat.  I had worked with, served with these amazing men and women for the past 4 years (some the whole time some a little shorter), but they were like family to me.  While away, I felt God moving.  I have had a hard time being still! (Imagine that!) And at one point we were walking on the snow covered beach of  Lake Michigan, and I was with everyone else but also alone with my thoughts and prayers and looked out over the lake and felt like God was saying... I've Got someting Bigger for You!  I was excited and scared at the same time, later at the hotel I started thinking (Bad idea) and figured I had found out what God was talking about.  I have always had a heart for Middle Schoolers Espcially Girls, that was a pivitol time in my life that really did affect who I have become. So I got this Idea to plan, and oragianze a Retreat Just for Girls, that focuses on Selfesteem, Body image, and finding value in God nto the World.  With approval from the Youth Pastor I went to town!  During this same time Earl had been doing ministry searches, we had come close many times but it just seemed as if God was keeping us where we were, and I was OK with that.  In March 2008 after more than a year of seraching we stopped, no more resume's were sent out and we knew there were a few out there still but felt hopeless any of them would pan out.  Earl and I began praying that if God wanted us to move He would put it right in our laps. (and He did!) It was about this time that God began stirring up the nest so to speak and beagn to open my eyes to somet hings that were happening at our church and espcially in youth ministry that made mequestion if I still wanted to be there.  I hadn't really shared this with anyone because I thought it was me.  I thought something was wrong with me, so I began praying that God would change my heart, in reguards to the things I was seeing.  In June 2008 we got a call from Pastor Terry @ FBC Augusta.  Long story short they inteviewed Earl the previous fall, chose another person and now had an opening and felt like Earl was the right person for the job.
In August 2008 we moved!    Now I knew at the time that this had to be from God, we hadn't been seraching, we were happy where we were, sorta. Our move was very quick and unexpected for some.  We hadn't shared with many about us going to visit the church for the interview until we returned home, and knew that God was moving us. My biggest fear with the the move was for our children, MC C was 16 ready to start her Junior year, MR C had just finished his first year of middle school, and KJ was so used to being in the same grade and class as two of her cousins, and going to Grandma's after School several days a week. How would they adjust to moving 14 hours away to an area we knew no one! But I gotta tell you again God Provided (In Big ways) all three have made some amazing friends, and are all doing fabulous here!  (I know they miss Ohio sometimes, but thier needs have been met tenfold) God saw to it that all of our needs were prvided for.  I was able to stay home, with this move and that is something I was hoping for.  So let's get to the desperate part.  The initial move was good, and I was busy gettign things situated we moved less than a week before school was to start so I didn't have alot of time to myself.  Shortly after this I began to miss everythign we had in Ohio.  Things at the church were going down hill, I was thankful not to be there but also wishing I was because at least I would have been comfortable, (in the pit).  I felt so alone here in Kansas, I knew God brought us here but I just couldn't figure out why? (and I am a girl who likes to know details)  I cried many a days, for what we had kinda like the Isrealites when things got hard in the wilderness.  I knew where we were wasn't good but God was moving me and making me uncomfortable and I didn't like it!  Nothing here was what I was used to. I missed going to a store and being recognized, or having a student give me a hug, on Wednesday or Sunday when I was at Church. I missed going to my parent's house anytime I wanted, or having my Girls Night's Out.  I felt all alone even surrounded by people.  I cried out to God to give me some hope, because I was begining to lose mine.  I still believed that God brought us here but I couldn't see why?  Earl was thriving, the kids were doing Amazing and I was desperate to hear from God.  I beagn walking around the lake in town, and having daily morning quiet times with God, and that's when he beagn to reveil to me what He was doing.  He had work for me here, and He wanted me to draw near to Him.  It was during this time that they were planning a women's retreat.  I struggled for days even up to two days before the retreat that I finally decided to go.  It was a big thing for me to do that, I have always struggled with not fitting in with other women, and I thought this was going to be another one of those times.  Thankfully it wasn't.  Infact it was at the Unveild Retreat that I really began to open up and take off the masks I wear to protect myself.  God used that to show me that
the Women in Kansas were just like me, (or at least some were!) I beagn to deveolp friendships and I will always treasure these special women that God has brough into my life, and I look forward to more. Because I belive that God's not done with me yet! I still ocassionaly miss Ohio, Especially
Wilson's Hamburger's and Dietche's Chocolates and my Family of Course! But I know that God didn't bring me here to wither and die in the wilderness.  He is daily showing me new amazing things!

There is a song by Mary Mary that really touhes my heart when I hear it, and it's an encouraging reminder that He (God) didn't bring me this far to leave me.  He brought me this far to draw me near to him! Mary Mary Can't Give up Now!

If you read all of this wow I am impressed, and I hope that it will be an Encouragement to You!

One in a Million!

I am currently taking a Women's Bible Study right now called One in a Million by Priscilla Shirer. Check out or weekly updates on it here at the FBC Women's Ministry Blog .  Anyway today as I was reading my daily reading several things really hit home with me so I though I'd share them here!  I am excited for class tomorrow so I can share them with the group of women.  First some background, this study is about the  Isrealites 40 year journey through the Wilderness after Pharoh realeased them from slavery.  Exodus  So this week we are talking about how God led the Isrealites through the wilderness, not as a punishment but to help them.  All to often we (me especially) look at these wilderness times in our lives and complain, or wonder why me!?!  As I  am reading this book, and reading the Bible, I am really starting to understand that those wilderness times in my life were to grow me, to stretch me, and that's not such a bad thing.  I tend to focus on the fact that I am in the wilderness, and I fail to see the oasis.  God promises that He wil be with us, but we forget that he says he will refresh us as well Psalm 23:2-3 .  God Loves you (and me) and has not forgotten you... He will never lead you into a place that will not work toward accomplishing His purpose for you.  Jeremiah 29:11      So Keep on marching, keep yor head up and know that you will be brought out of the wilderness, and the Lord will give you all you need.  Philippians 4:19

Consider this prayer as a tool to help you in your wilderness journey:

God:  According to Philippians 4:19 I believe that you will meet all of my needs according to your glorious riches in Christ Jesus.  Lord, thank You that You are a shield around me.  You are my glory and the lifter of my head (Psalm 3:3). As I journey, Lord, please reveal Your Love for me that according to Ephesians 3:17-20, surpasses knowledge and fills life with Your fullness.  Thank You for being able to do immeasurably more than I can ask.  In Christ Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Youth Mission Trip/Auction

It's that time of year again (You Know, Youth Auction Time!) and I wanted to show you what your donations for the Auction and or sponsorship of some one going really is used for. First though I want to say that No matter what you are able to give, even if it's just prayer it matters! MC C, MRC and I had the pleasure to go on the musical trip together last summer and MRC and I went to Chicago last year for the Spring Break trip and even though both trips are so totaly different the message is the same to serve God by serving others.  In Chicago we worked with inner city schools during the day then had diffrent tasks in the evening, one in where we boxed a three day supply of food for families in Chicago. In the few hours we were there we packaged more than 1,000 meals.  Here are a few pictures:

The Musical trip is so different than the Spring Break trip but the same goal is accomplished, we share God's love with the people.  A musical/drama is written based on what is going on in the life of the students and it shows how God is working and using them.  Here are a few pictures:

If you need tickets to the Auction Dinner $10 (Suggested Donation) or want to sponsor contact any youth at FBC.  If you want to help our family with a donation for the Auction or sponsorship please let me know! I do ask that you will be praying for us as we prepare and for those that we will be in contact with over spring break in Houston, and this summer with the musical trip.

Have a Beautiful Day!

Friday 1/8: Genesis 18:16-19:38 Matthew 6:25-7:14 Psalm 8:1-9 Proverbs 2:6-15

Saturday 1/9: Genesis 20:1-22:24 Matthew 7:15-29 Psalm 9:1-12 Proverbs 2:16-22

Thursday 1/14: Genesis 30:1-31:16 Matthew 10:1-23 Psalm 12:1-8 Proverbs 3:13-15

Last week in Genesis I read about Abraham and Sarah, and how they had to choose to be obedient to God's plan for them they had to get up and move (from the land they knew) and they had to trust that God would be true to his promises, sometimes they took things into their own hands (those usually failed) but when they were obedient to what God had for them they were Blessed! We could learn a thing or two from them, When we are Obedient to God's timing, God's plan for our life then we to will be blessed! My prayer is that this week you will join me in reading God's Word, and you to will be blessed by it! Happy Reading!

Happy New Year

Do you make New Years Resolutions? I do every year, (even years I say I won't)and usually break them by the first week in Februaury. SO this year I am putting them out hear for everyone to see, and hopefully to make me keep them longer!

My first one is a two part resolution:#1 To be in the Word (BIBLE) everyday! To read through the bible in this next year. I am using the Change your Life Bible (It's from a Women's Bible Study I did several years ago) I will read from Pslams, Proverbs, The Old & New Testaments each day... I may even be blogging about what I am reading and learning. Want to follow along? I will post weekly what I am reading each day that week. Luke 6:45 The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.

#2 Be a better Wife and Mother (putting the needs of my family above other things)
Ephesians 5:22-2422Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. 24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Ephesians 6:4 Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

#3 Laugh more and Worry Less
Proverbs 15:30 A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones. 2 Corinthians 4:17-18F or our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

#4 Treat myself with Respect (My mind...(especially my words)& My Body) Ephesians 2:10 For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do

Romans 15:13 May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
So What are you Resolutions for this year? It's my Prayer that youl will have a safe, Happy, Healty New Year!

Christmas Lights

So tonight we loaded up the van with the kids, the Hubby and Me and went on a search for Christmas Lights in and around town.

We found several houses that very nicely decorated, and even went through our town park that has lights all over it.

We found not one but two houses that had lights and music that went together, it was pretty neat. (Sing Chipmunks Christmas During this Part)

We then went uptown to see the town Christmas Tree and took a few photo's there as well. Then we headed home to enjoy a quite evening watching Christmas movies.

Making Buckeye's

I have been a little homesick this last week and today had the urge to bake, and thought I'd make some Buckeye's for friends to enjoy, so I set out this afternoon to make (ok it's not really baking) some of these yummy treats! Here are the directions step by step incase you have the urge to make some as well!

Gather the ingredients: Recipe for Buckeye's:
1/2 stick butter (room temp)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 C. creamy Peanut Butter
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
2-2 1/2 C Powdered Sugar (add a little at a time)
1 C. Chocoalte Chips

Mix all the ingredients in a bowl adding small amounts of Powdered Sugar at a time (you don't want it to be dry and crumbly) I usually end up mixing until I can't anymore and them use my hands to knead it to dough like consitancy
Refridgerate for about 20 minutes or over night. Using a small scoop (Pampered Chef) or 2 spoons to make even sized scoops then roll into small balls 1 recipe makes about 35 balls. Place in fridge for abut 20 minutes or overnight. Melt 1 C chocolate chips and dip the balls in the chocolate coating all but the top of the peanut butter ball. (See Picture below) then refridgerate again until ready to serve can be frozen. Eat and Enjoy!

Mix all the ingredients together:

Form the Dough into small balls:

Place the balls on a wax paper covered cookie sheet to set in the fridge:

Dip the set balls into melted chocolate:

Set chocolate peanutbutter balls back onto wax lined cookie sheet to set in fridge for 20 minutes, can be froxen.

Then share with a friend!
Hope you will enjoy them as much as we do!
Have a Beautiful Day!
